In observance of Veterans Day, Greensboro city offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with a number of municipal services and facilities operating on a different schedule.

There will be no garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste or appliance collections that day. Instead, Tuesday’s collections will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Both the White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station will also be closed on November 11.

Libraries and cultural facilities will be observing the holiday as well. All Greensboro Public Library branches and the Greensboro Cultural Center will be closed Tuesday.

While many departments will pause operations, the Greensboro Transit Agency will continue running buses on a normal schedule – offering free rides to US military veterans who present identification.

City administrative offices won’t be open to the public Tuesday. That includes the Melvin Municipal Office Building and the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center. Residents can still pay water bills online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/PayWaterBill. For water or sewer emergencies – including main breaks, sewer stoppages or issues with taste or odor – Water Resources Dispatch can be reached 24 hours a day at 336-373-2033.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation administrative offices, recreation centers, the Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation, the Greensboro Sportsplex, Greensboro Youth Council, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion, Xperience @ Caldcleugh, Lake Brandt, and Lake Higgins will all be closed Tuesday.

However, city parks, gardens, trails, lakes, cemeteries and Gillespie Golf Course will remain open on schedules.

Regular hours for all facilities and programs will resume Wednesday, Nov. 12.
