It used to be that 2024 seemed like it was a long time away.
However, like most future dates it arrived quicker than you thought it would and in this case that means that the High Point-based Carolina Core Football Club is gearing up for its first season.
This week, the team announced the date of the groundbreaking of its new training facility, added new players, and began promoting a special package deal for fans who want to travel to the first game in Mecklenburg County on Sunday, March 17.
Founded in 2022, Carolina Core FC is an independent professional men’s soccer team that will be playing in the MLS NEXT Pro league – a league that feeds top players into Major League Soccer (MLS) and one that will have many games broadcast on the Apple TV Plus service. Due to the tight connection between MLS and Apple, there’s some speculation that the iPhone maker will eventually broadcast some games to the new Apple Vision Pro headsets, letting the viewer watch the match as if they are present at the stadium and in great seats.
The team has just announced the groundbreaking ceremony for its new training facility for Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. Parking for the event will be at Phillips Soccer Park Lower Fields. The press release notes, “Please consider that this is an active construction site when determining your attire.”
Carolina Core FC has also begun selling a special Match One Package for fans. That all-in-one package will include coach bus transportation to and from the team’s first game on March 17 against Crown Legacy FC at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex. The package also includes a commemorative scarf and a ticket to the match. Kick-off is at 5 p.m. and the team is predicting a sell out for the bus trip.
You can also now buy your season tickets online.
Carolina Core FC is already playing preseason games, and, on Monday, Feb. 19, the team will play High Point University. Gates open at 5 p.m. and admission is free.
