The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is calling on the community to help in its effort to offer some hurricane relief for the western part of the state with its “Together for Western NC” campaign.

The department is collecting essential supplies to help those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.

A trailer is now parked just outside of the Sheriff’s Office, and we are asking the community to help us fill it up. The donations will be delivered to the affected areas on Friday morning.

You can drop off your donations in the Sheriff’s Office parking lot at 400 W. Washington St. in Greensboro by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Let the Office staff know when you arrive so they can help you.

Here are some of the needed items that they’re accepting:

  • Non-perishable food items (such as canned foods, nuts, granola bars, peanut butter, crackers)
  • Bottled water
  • Water containers
  • Can openers
  • Personal and feminine hygiene products (such as soap, toothpaste/brush, tampons, pads)
  • New and packaged clothing (socks, underwear, t-shirts, gloves, blankets)
  • Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates/cups, plastic utensils
  • Cleaning supplies (garbage bags, hand sanitizer, buckets, gloves, disinfectant spray)
  • Baby formula, diapers and wipes, and baby bottles
  • Pet food and supplies
  • First-aid kits
  • Flashlights and batteries

Please note, they can’t accept cash or used items.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Office notes, “It’s imperative that our community comes together in times of need. Every donation can make a difference in someone’s life.”
