Usually, when law enforcement sends out a missing person’s report to the media, it’s someone who went missing in the last few days, or perhaps the last week; however, on Friday Afternoon, June 7, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office sent out a notice regarding a man who’s been missing for three or four months.
The person who disappeared mysteriously earlier this year is 49-year-old David Sylvester Mobley and now the Sheriff’s Office is asking all members of the public to help find him.
The authorities aren’t even exactly sure when and where he was last seen but the June 7 missing person’s alert states it was either in February or March of 2024 when anyone saw him last.
Mobley (pictured above) is a black male who is 5’5” tall and weighs an estimated 115 pounds. His daughter’s name, Samiya, is tattooed on one of his forearms in either Chinese or Arabic.
He was last seen “possibly” wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a snapback hat. That is an adjustable baseball-type cap.
Here are some of the places in Greensboro where he was known to frequent before he went missing: Bessemer Avenue., Summit Avenue, Landerwood Drive, Freeman Mill Road., McConnell Road, Memphis Street and US 29,
If you’ve seen Mobley or have any information regarding his whereabouts, you should contact Detective J.M. Allen with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office at 336-641-2799.
You may also call Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.

No real particulars given here. Was he homeless with no contact with contact with his daughter? Was known to be a “substance reliant person” as we’re referring to substance abusers now? Apparently he was not working as most employers would have alerted someone if he didn’t show up to work.
I hate to say it, but a 49 year old man, possibly disadvantaged in some respects is missing for three or four months and it’s just coming to the fore. If it had been a 20 year old white girl missing the alert would have gone out a damn sight sooner.
So who is it that’s missing – – Sylvester or Mobley?
And why’s the other guy in the story?
Thanks for the correction.
