These days, apparently, you aren’t even safe from thieves and assailants in the morning hours when you’re just making a trip to a grocery store in Forest Oaks.

That’s what one unlucky shopper discovered recently while in the parking lot of the Food Lion at 4620 Woody Mill Road, just off of US-421.

According to a Tuesday, June 23 press release from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department, at about 8:06 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, the department received a call reporting a robbery in the parking lot. The report stated that the victim was assaulted by two black male suspects and had property stolen at that time.

The press release from the department didn’t state what items had been taken or the sex of the victim.

The department seems to believe it has nabbed one of the perpetrators. According to the release: “The suspects fled the scene on foot and were picked up by a vehicle waiting nearby. The victim did not require medical treatment. Later the same day, one of the suspects – Alan Michael Ritchwood (20 years of age) – was arrested for common law robbery and placed in the Greensboro Jail under a $15,000.00 bond.”

Sheriff’s officials are requesting that anyone who has information pertaining to the incident – or who knows the identity of the two other suspects in the crime (the driver and the assailant) – contact Detective Fleming at (336) 641-5840. Or, they can also call Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000.

Any call to Crime Stoppers will be, as always, completely anonymous and, if the information you provide Crime Stoppers is beneficial in leading to the arrest or indictment of those responsible, you could receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
