The Guilford County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the help of the public in finding a teenage girl who’s now been missing for three days.

On Wednesday, March 4, Sheriff Danny Rogers announced that his department is looking for a missing 15-year-old, Makayla Marr – known to friends and family as “Kayla.”

Makayla is a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes. She is 5’ 6” tall, and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She has been missing since Sunday, March 1. She was last known to be in the Stokesdale area.

Usually, an announcement of this type would offer a clothing description – however, officials aren’t aware of what she was wearing at the time of disappearance. Also, though the picture provided shows Makayla with long hair, her current hairstyle is described as “short buzzed lower with length on top hanging over or pulled into a bun.”

Anyone who knows Makayla’s whereabouts or has any information regarding her disappearance should call Guilford-Metro 911 or the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department at 336-641-3355.

This is the second time in a year that the Sheriff’s Department has called on the public to help find a missing 15-year old. Last summer the department attempted to find Samuel Juergen, a 15-year-old who went missing on Wednesday, Aug. 28 in a rural part of Guilford County near Summerfield. That case ended happily; he was found on Saturday morning, August 31 in Stoneville, NC.

For Kayla, the Sheriff’s Department did not give any information as to the circumstances under which she disappeared.

According to statistics from the FBI, in 2019, there were 421,394 entries for missing children in the National Crime Information Center database. In 2018, the number of entries was 424,066. Over the last 35 years, the national toll-free hotline, 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678), has received about 5 million calls.
