Guilford County is in the process of opening its brand spanking new Animal Shelter, which is coming with new optimism, new practices and a better, cleaner environment for the animals the county holds.
If you want to offer the Guilford County Animal Services Advisory Board some advice at this critical juncture in the county’s animal care history, you’ll get your chance soon.
The Advisory Board has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Blue Room on the first floor of the Old Guilford County Court House at 301 W. Market St. in downtown Greensboro.
Due to recent success getting animals adopted before the move, the old shelter – at 4525 W. Wendover Ave. – will be open to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 20, Thursday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Oct. 22 prior to the shutdown for the big move the week of Monday, Oct. 25.
You don’t need an appointment to look at pets to adopt on those three days from noon to 3:30 p.m.
The shelter will shut down from October 25 through October 31 to change sites and will re-open services at the new location at the beginning of November.
The Animal Services Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 17, will be the board’s first meeting with the new shelter open. Unlike a lot of county boards and commissions meetings held over the last year and seven months, citizens will have the option of participating in person.
Those who wish to take part virtually can do so using GoToWebinar’s web-based platform.
To offer your advice to the board using the virtual platform, contact Board Liaison Tiffany Eubanks no later than 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
