A local fitness business is putting on an all-day and all-night benefit for a very good cause.
The staff and members of Pure Barre Greensboro wanted to help out Family Service of the Piedmont and they came up with an innovative way to do so. They’re holding a 24-hour benefit on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17 at Pure Barre Greensboro’s studio at 1310 Westover Terrace.
The name of the event –“24-hour Barre-A-Thon” – makes it sound kind of sketchy, but it actually promises to be very wholesome and invigorating.
Pure Barre staff will host a workout class every hour on the hour for 24 hours straight. Classes will run from 8 a.m. on March 16 through 8 a.m. March 17. All classes will be free with a donation encouraged. All proceeds will go to Family Service of the Piedmont.
Family Service of the Piedmont helps children and families deal with domestic violence, child abuse, mental health issues and financial instability. Each year, the organization helps nearly 20,000 local children and adults. It’s stated mission is “to empower individuals and families to restore hope, achieve stability and thrive through quality support services, advocacy and education.”
Recently, Family Service of the Piedmont hosted its annual Big Hair Ball – which is always one of their biggest events of the year.
Pure Barre promises a “full-body workout that transforms you physically and mentally.” The classes are musical and focus on low-impact, high-intensity movements meant to strengthen and tone bodies.
Pure Barre Greensboro is owned by two local women – Jennifer Stone Carelli and Christina Cromwell Buchanan and has been in business since 2013.
