On Monday, March 18, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department reported that one week earlier, on Monday, March 11, at just after 2 p.m., deputies responded to 4701 McConnell Road in McLeansville after a report of a shooting.

On Friday, March 15, a man was arrested for that shooting.

According to news reports of the incident, deputies found one man at the residence with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and eventually located Devin Matthew Smith, who had left the residence before deputies arrived.  Smith was also suffering from a gunshot wound.

 According to the March 18 press release from the Sheriff’s Department, just before 5 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 24-year-old Smith (pictured above) was arrested after being released from the hospital.

He was charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury as well as one count of Discharging a Barreled Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling.

Smith was being held on a $50,000 bond in the county jail in downtown Greensboro.

On the same day he was arrested, he posted bond and was released.

The Sheriff’s partment didn’t offer any other details and stated, “This investigation remains ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.”
