The following is a letter to the editor from Rhino Times Reader Maria Adams
There have been some concerns about the possible dismantling of the Department of Education. Many are worried about losing vital federal funding for crucial programs. However, there is a way to preserve these essential services moving forward.
According to a proposed legislation, federal funds for essential programs will continue to be available, but they will be reallocated to different state departments, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of the Treasury. Additionally, it is proposed that federal funds will be provided to states in the form of block grants. I encourage you to review the proposed legislation to gain an understanding of how essential services currently under the Department of Education could be managed through other departments.
