The following is a letter to the editor from Rhino Times Reader Maria Adams
There have been some concerns about the possible dismantling of the Department of Education. Many are worried about losing vital federal funding for crucial programs. However, there is a way to preserve these essential services moving forward.
According to a proposed legislation, federal funds for essential programs will continue to be available, but they will be reallocated to different state departments, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of the Treasury. Additionally, it is proposed that federal funds will be provided to states in the form of block grants. I encourage you to review the proposed legislation to gain an understanding of how essential services currently under the Department of Education could be managed through other departments.

Moms for Liberty – Guilford County, NC

Moms for Liberty have wanted to destroy public education since their founding. Looks like they are getting what they asked for…. Good luck with that.
No, they want to provide alternative options to government schools (which are crap).
I disagree with this approach. The states should handle grade-school education. Colleges can fly on their own wings.
Abe Lincoln educated himself while living simply in a log cabin, etc. Nobody can make you drink the water.
I had a good HS education at GHS. My mother taught me how to read and write by age 4. I have had at least one book going my entire life. If I can do it, so can everyone else who works hard and works smart. Self-made people do well also. Bill Gates dropped out of college to start his own business. Luck is a factor, life is not fair. Get on with it.
North Carolina allocated $5.7 billion in state and local funding for higher education, including the UNC System and the N.C. Community College System (NCCCS).
We have one of the worst public grade-school education systems in the country yet one of the best advanced education systems.
Says a product of that grade school system.
I can’t believe I sunk to HIS level…sorry folks.
It’s fine Alan. I have a sense of humor and don’t mind. Give it a try sometime.
But to address your point, I had to make up a lot of ground given my poor prep in NC public grade school. But in spite of that I did quite well in college and grad school. Which we have some of the best in the world.
That’s ok Alan, we all have weak moments. I personally will take your’s and Austin’s views over Sir Chrissy any day. I don’t know him personally (thank God) but he reminds me of that pompous ass Winchester on Mash
We are all sick of the ChrisCrap. He is just like an a##hole you can’t get rid of.
The uglier you are to me, the more I will stalk you here and call out your bigotry, hate, and ignorance. It’s like a small hobby. And it makes me giggle while having my coffee in the morning.
You’ve been stalking me for years, you creep. And you haven’t fazed me yet.
Losers are irrelevant.
Says the guy who replies to almost ever comment i make. Admit it, you have a thing for me. Kisses. Lmao
You’re the one who’s stalking me, buddy. Get over your fixation with me.
Austin. Hate to break it to you but we aren’t buddies.
Just sayin…lol
Chris do you know what opinion means
He said, ‘colleges fly on their own’. In some states, they do. But not NC State Universities. Hence, we have so many out of state students from the Northeast. I think it’s great and love that all three of my kids are debt free with their undergraduate degrees (and one working on their masters) as it was affordable for us to pay for their school from a 529 plan we saved up for since they will born.
Facts matter. Especially when forming an opinion.
But you be you.
Chris please get a dictionary and look up opinion
Are you implying that facts don’t matter when forming an opinion? not surprised.
Yes, we do have some good colleges in NC. I graduated from two of them.
According to Researchgate, the following four universities in the U.S. have the most retracted (retraction is a mechanism for correcting the scientific record) from flawed scientific research: Harvard, Duke University, Columbia University, and Wayne State University.
Lol right. Because they publish the most research articles. Do you have a measure of retraction per submission?
Plus priting retraction show how effective the scientific review process really is yet conservative beleive conspiracy theories over actual science.
But you be you.
Remember. . . the school board in Guilford (and probably nationwide) is filled with liberals. . .er um, Democrats.
I vote to impeach Chrissy.
Seconded !
Chris. According to Webster facts have nothing to do with opinion but please don’t let facts get in your way
Not sure why you think websters would include best practices for forming an opinion. It gives definitions….not best practices. Maybe you should look up the definition of dictionary.
But to expand on the topic, it’s common sense that an opinion is stronger if backed by facts, data, and supporting opinions of people who have specialized expertise in a topic.
But you be you.
I appreciate you thinking of me on the level of President of the united states. Especially since your hero has the record for most times being impeached in a single term. Think he can beat the record this time around? I bet he can given how many of his executive orders violate the Constitution of the United States.
But you be you.
Chris please explain what your answer has to do with my post. Austin is so correct about you. When you’re wrong, you just deflect the subject You’re a pitiful specimen for a human being. To quote Austin you’re a wanker
Hear, hear ! Ain’t it the truth ?
Was a reply to the comment from Salf Life suggesting I be impeached as if I were a public official.
All in Favor? (rafters shake) AYE
All Opposed? (crickets)
The Ayes have it, move to adjourn
All in Favor? (rafters shake) AYE
All Opposed? (crickets)
The Ayes have it. Have a nice night y’all
In the good ole days carpetbaggers were tarred, feathered and rode out of town on a rail. I have all three at my house
All this mud-slinging is not helping anything.
There is no help for some. You can’t fix stupid.
I am really trying to help Alan. He will get there and learn to use Google before making comments. I just KNOW he can do it.
I’m really glad you put your faith in Goggle, after all everyone knows that if it’s on the internet it has to be true. Is Goggle where you find all your facts to support your opinions
In Alan’s case it better to be quiet and let people think you understand what’s going on versus typing comments and letting everyone know he doesn’t.
Key to research is the source. Reliable sources is key. But you be you be.
