Greensboro city offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
Garbage and recycling collections will operate on an adjusted schedule for the holiday. Thursday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, July 1, and Friday collections will be picked up on Thursday, July 2. There will be no garbage or recycling collections on Friday, July 3.
The White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station will also be closed on July 3.
The Ecoflo Household Hazardous Waste facility on Patterson Avenue will be closed Friday, July 3, but it will reopen Saturday, July 4.
The Greensboro Public Libraries, Greensboro History Museum and Greensboro Cultural Center will all be closed July 3 and July 4.
Greensboro Transit Agency fixed-route buses and Access GSO paratransit service will operate on a weekend schedule from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both July 3 and July 4.
Greensboro Parks and Recreation administrative offices, recreation centers, the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation section, Greensboro Youth Council, Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers, Xperience @ Caldcleugh and the Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion will all be closed July 3 and July 4.
City parks, gardens, lakes, trails, cemeteries, the Greensboro Sportsplex and Gillespie Golf Course will remain open on their normal schedules.
The Melvin Municipal Office Building and the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center will be closed to in-person services on Friday, July 3.
Residents who need to report water or sewer emergencies, including water main breaks, sewer stoppages or changes in the taste, odor or color of drinking water, should call the Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.

Meanwhile, the local ABC Stores will be opened on July 4th! This has never happened in the history of man! Is July 4th not an important holiday for these employees or is business for the NC ABC that bad? Just another good reason to stay at home on July 4th. This just adds more fuel for the fire of crime and carnage in all the communities of NC?
