In the NYC Democrat Gubernatorial runoff the leading vote getter is a far left anti-Semite Socialist who is advocating free stuff for all but has yet to be challenged on how it will be paid for. Oh wait, I believe he’s also advocating a 1% additional tax increase on ‘the rich’ to help pay for it. He’s not yet said what constitutes ‘the rich’ but the middle class should grab their ankles if this guy gets elected.
Given the way Duke Skippy and his merry band sycophants (aka the Board of Commissioners) work, they may be taking notes and are making plans.
When you look at the County budget, past and present, you can see where and how the Democrat den of thieves have managed to stay in power. As I said we as County voters need to look at the idea of term limits on County Commissioners, although undoubtedly the Duke would become a shadow power behind the throne, but it’s a start. Maybe consider making the majority of seats At Large.
If you want an example of how far this Board of Commissars will go, look at how hard they are pushing a sales tax hike. Their main selling point is ‘oh, this is a tax on EVERYBODY, not just County residents’, but don’t point out how the MAJORITY of it will fall on County residents. And let’s not overlook the (strong) possibility of ‘tax exemptions’ being given out to the favored of the Regime. If this fails (fingers crossed) again we, the property owners, can count on ANOTHER property tax hike. I made the comment that I won’tPEOPLE discount the property tax reaching the $1.00 rate before long because they need the money to continue to buy their votes to maintain their rule. If this other tax fails again I believe there will be another tax increase disguised as a ‘revaluation’ on its heels.
This whole thing can be accredited to a lack of participation on the part of ‘We the People’ by not going to the polls and not doing due diligence, choosing instead to believe what these ‘professional politicians’ are shoveling out to us.

I worked in some governments in the past and I can tell you there are plenty of ways to manage projects and programs at lower costs, which would also lower the number of employees needed as well. However, the problem is the interference by county and municipal boards that hinder any meaning change because they are beholding to those who provided the campaign cash, etc.

It’s weird that conservatives think:
Spending / Debt to help disadvantaged = bad
Increasing Debt to Cut Taxes (which favors big business and wealthy the most) = good
Both are bad. The real solution is balancing revenue to spending and conservatives have shown even they are unable to cut spending to be in line with revenue. So clearly, we need to increase revenue AND cut spending.
But go ahead and act this is only a problem when democrats are in office.

But then, most Leftists are spiteful people who harbor hatred in their hearts. That is the cornerstone of their values. Their progenitor, Karl Marx, intended to divide people by creating enmity within society, and setting people against each other. He did so by provoking envy, telling the majority that they must despise the people who employed them, for they were evil “capitalists” ( a term Marx invented ). Their success was not a result of their efforts, he said, but rather because they were taking advantage of the people they employed and paid. This is absurd, because nobody was forced to request employment from them in the free market system. My own family voluntarily moved from farming labor in rural South Wales to the booming town of Llanelli. Why? Because the work was consistent and the remuneration was cash – not a few pork chops. So we progressed. That is how “capitalism” helps raise people…. Without coercion, without force, without judgement.
It’s called freedom.
Look at Austin pretending that all people in the US have the same access to the benefits of capitalism in the US. While certainly improved over the last few decades, the US has never offered a level playing field to all people.

It’s called the American Dream because it IS accessible to ANYBODY that wants to put out the effort, the sweat, the investment of time and money to WORK for it.
Note I didn’t say everybody WILL succeed…I said EVERYBODY has the OPPORTUNITY to succeed. I tried and failed at an endeavor but I learned from it. I didn’t go crying I was run over by anybody. I screwed up and was man enough to admit it.

– Wants an immediate ceasefire and return of all hostages
– Has Condemned October 7th and the brutal murders of the 2 Israeli embassy staffers in DC
– Acknowledges Israel’s right to exist but not as a Jewish state, believes in a binational single state with equal rights for all Israelis and Palestinians
– Supports the BDS movement
– Vows to arrest Netanyahu in accordance with the ICC warrant if he steps foot in NYC
– Supports the “Not on Our Dime Act” which would stop NYC nonprofits from funding and supporting groups assisting in building illegal West Bank Settlements
– Vow to fight antisemitism with a comprehensive plan to address ALL hate crimes.
I suggest most people never take Alan Marshal very seriously as you will note the lack of any basis for the labels he uses and the absence of any real facts to back up her opinion of situations other than his own emotional response to things based on how his conservative news sources told him to feel.

Delivery?
Grocery store delivery in NYC is limited to a fairly tight range for a number of reasons. Most services list 20 to 30 minutes max for delivery which in NYC is 2 to 3 miles depending on traffic and mode of delivery. They also limit the weight per delivery to no more than ~20 lbs. In addition, they charge an extra fee on top already high grocery prices. So, I don’t think that is the quick fix you might think it is….
Let them eat cake, move, or go online to Amazon. I may break out my violin for them.

So what if there’s a paucity of grocery stores in parts of New York City? It’s no concern of government, or you, or me, or anyone else. Nowhere in the Constitution is there an obligation for government to provide food stores within 2 miles for every 100,000 population, or whatever. The free market will meet the needs of consumers – unless those consumers make the proposition impossible.
Sometimes, rioters smash windows and loot stores – when the store owner has nothing at all to do with some imagined grievance thousands of miles away. Or they perpetrate chronic and continuous petty theft, shoplifting in the knowledge they’ll just get a slap on the wrist, if they’re even arrested. Or they engage in ongoing fraud, whether it’s worthless cheques or charge card fraud. Or maybe they just behave like assholes, and the owner decides to relocate to an area where people are civilised.
So then those areas don’t have local grocery stores.
Tough s**t for the scumbags who live there.

Government-run grocery stores could lead to corruption and money laundering.
It’s a money loser for taxpayers, akin to the U.S. Postal Service. Grocery stores don’t make large profits as it is.
The lack of grocery stores in NYC is mainly due to crime, i.e., shoplifting.
