Piedmont Triad International Airport is inviting area families to put on their costumes and bring out their sweet tooths this week for an early Halloween celebration inside the main terminal.

It’s a tough time for some federal transportation security employees who aren’t getting paid due to the federal government shutdown, but that’s not stopping the airport from offering family-friendly Halloween festivities to anyone who wants to come out.

The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and PTI staff is promising a couple of hours of treats and laughter – along with plenty of Halloween-themed fun.

The gathering is free and open to the public.  While the event is free, the airport will still be charging for parking.  In short-term parking that will run you $3 for an hour and half.  Hopefully, at least that amount in free candy can be made up for during that time.

Those going should enter the terminal through door number 4 on the departure level and start at the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority office before making their way to the festivities.

Airport officials say costumes are welcome, and candy will be provided for all ages.

Tenants from across the airport will be joining in the celebration – so families can expect plenty of stops along the way to fill up a bag.

The airport’s location at 1000 Ted Johnson Parkway in Greensboro makes it accessible for families across the Triad, and airport leaders see events like this as a way to connect with the community beyond just offering airline service.
