Gas prices got you in the dumps?
Of course they do.
Well, it’s not a permanent fix to the situation, but one group – Americans for Prosperity – is coming back to Greensboro with an event that proved very popular earlier this year, when gas prices were lower than they are now.
The group is using the high price of gas to make a point about the current state of the economy. To that end, they are visiting parts of the country on a “True Cost of Washington Tour” and bringing down gas prices once again.
Americans for Prosperity is trying to offer long-term solutions to the country’s biggest problems. So the members “engage friends and neighbors on key issues and encourage them to take an active role in building a culture of mutual benefit, where people succeed by helping one another.”
On Wednesday, June 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the BP Gas Station at 2620 Phoenix Dr. in Greensboro, Americans for Prosperity will do a “gas station takeover,” and, for two hours, they’ll reduce the price of gas to $2.38 a gallon – the national average price of gas in January 2021 before President Joe Biden took office.
The discounts will be given on regular unleaded gasoline on a first come, first served basis.
The group is also hosting a happy hour, where there will be “a limited number of complimentary beverages” while attendees discuss the effect that rising costs have had on people, small businesses and families.
That happy hour will be on Thursday, June 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Red Oak Brewery Lager Haus & Biergarten at 6901 Konica Dr. in Whitsett.
The True Cost of Washington campaign is meant to “educate Americans in nine states, including North Carolina, about the truth behind rising costs – while offering real solutions to make everyday life more affordable.”
A press release from the organization notes that, due to inflation running wild, Americans can expect to spend an extra $5,200 to maintain the same standard of living as last year – and an extra $1,433 for gasoline.
Americans for Prosperity push for solutions like making it easier to produce energy domestically and bringing government spending under control by tackling the federal debt and reducing government budget deficits.

Don’t forget the RT to the station, + mileage. The govt now allows a 62.5c/mile for a business deduction (which is not enough to operate a vehicle). You think I would drive 2 miles to save 10c/gal for ten gallons? No.
Every June, our Mother takes a cottage in Ocean Isle Beach. We just returned from a short visit, and experienced our first $70+ gas fill-up. It will soon get to the point where people can’t afford transportation: to work, to the store, to the doctor, to Mom’s house. Then we are all dead meat.
Based on govt figures (which are hard to find), the amount of money created by our govt in just a year or so is 36%. That is the real inflation rate. Look at any YOY commodity chart, buy something.
We always stop at the Berry Patch in Ellerbe for some homemade peach ice cream; and also to admire their cojones in pricing their stuff. For 1 pound of dry navy beans, they want $3. A jar of Honey that costs me $13 at home, they want $20. This is not inflation, this is nothing but gouging. And they do a great business. Anyone who spends more than a few dollars there never has the right to complain about not having enough money.
I imagine they’ll be needing some traffic control assistance from GPD. They shouldn’t allow cars with Biden Harris stickers in line.

Upon his becoming President, Mr. Biden shut down pipelines, shut down as much of the oil & nat gas industry that he could. The Green lobby and their govt enablers has helped reduce as much fossil fuel production as they could, world-wide. All for renewable sources that cannot replace the lost BTUs. Renewables have a long way to go before they can replace fossil fuels. On average, the US produces 15 million cars a year. There isn’t enough Chinese lithium to produce more than a million or so batteries for EVs yearly. What do you think powers an EV? Electricity, produced mainly with coal, oil, and nat gas. A gasoline-based engine produces less pollution than an EV, this includes the excessive cost of production of an EV.
We are now an importer of fuels again. The price of oil today is $118/bbl. One year ago, WELL before the Ukraine war began, oil was about $71/bbl. When President Trump left office last January, oil was around $50/bbl; and the USA was energy-independent.
