While responding to an emergency call, a Guilford County EMS ambulance was involved in a two-vehicle accident in the 2600 block of Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro at 1:26 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
The ambulance had two providers seated in the front cab, both wearing seatbelts. At the time of the incident, the ambulance was responding to an emergency call and operating with lights and sirens.
Fortunately, the ambulance didn’t have a patient on board at the time.
As a result of the collision, three individuals were treated and transported to local medical facilities. The Guilford County EMS paramedic driving the ambulance and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash were both transported with moderate injuries by additional Guilford County EMS ambulances.
A second Guilford County paramedic in the passenger seat of the ambulance sustained minor injuries and went to a local hospital in a private vehicle.
Guilford County EMS responded to the scene with one additional ambulance, two quick-response vehicles and four supervisors.
Guilford County Emergency Services Director Jim Albright said the following after the incident: “The safety of our crews and the public is always our top priority.”
“We are grateful that those involved are receiving the care they need, and we want to thank our partners at the Greensboro Fire Department and Greensboro Police Department for their swift response and professionalism on scene,” Albright added.
The incident remains under investigation.
Additional information might be released by the Greensboro Police Department – which is currently investigating the cause of the accident – as it becomes available.
Guilford County EMS is conducting an internal review of the incident in accordance with agency protocols.

ironic
They all drive crazy, like blue lights, red lights, yellow lights place them above the law. I feel bad for the innocent party.
Ersa I hope the day never comes when you have something serious happen to you and the EMS have to get you to the hospital in a hurry to save your life
Tell it to the crash victims.
everyone who was on that road operating their speeding projectiles ‘behaved’ knowing this HAPPENS. define – daredevil ? wear a helmet while driving/riding EVERYTHING if u believe what u see often ? mouths/minds say one thing as bodies do the wrong thing et tu
More supervisors responded than the folks involved.
Esra is a meanie!
The article didn’t say which vehicle caused the accident, so you can’t blame the ambulance driver. With lights and sirens he was certainly giving loud notice that he had the right of way. Unfortunately these days so many (mostly younger) people drive with their radios blaring so loud that they don’t hear anything else.
. . . & the elderly drive deaf . . . who drives by sound ? : i do on my bike making it safer & i can tell the motorist she is beautiful if her window is down . . . & she isn’t blaring ‘music’ . . . & she is beautiful. too many people spend their lives walking from box to can, can to box surrounded by artificial surfaces & 90* angles
“Officials have not said what caused the crash” – ABC45. They’re always silent when it’s one of their own.
I have ridden in one of these twice and both times held on for dear life! I am not surprised that one wrecked. I am convinced the drivers are former moonshine runners…..
it’s a training program to BECOME moonshine runners – a better $ job & more highly valued by . . . 5% of the local population ? i walk by an ABC store often & when an old man with bottle is climbing into their vehicle i heckle — ‘ i’m telling your doctor u use that ! & your preacher !’ i’ve received funny as mel back from some

You’re a character, Markl. You’re nuts of course, but then so are many British eccentrics who are geniuses.
We all just wish we could more readily understand your pearls of wisdom. You might think you’re casting them before swine, but not all of us are stupid, and we wrestle with your insights. Your English is…. idiosyncratic and unique.
And have a cold one for me! It’s Friday.
Cheers!
