Here at the Rhino Times, we are not just worker bees who work and work until our wings fall off. While we work the vast majority of the year, we do not do so every day of it: We need a little time off like the rest of the world, especially halfway through this year when so much has been going on – a new county manager, a new city attorney, increasing budget spending, many interesting things going on at the Sheriff’s Office, investigations of local officials, a new Greensboro City Council and mayor’s race just starting up, and too many other things to name.
The Rhino Times publishes 50 weeks a year, with one week off in July and another at Christmastime – and this year’s summer break is now upon us: The Rhino Times will be off for the week of July 28 through August 1.
Let me take a moment to thank everyone for reading and also take time to encourage you to, if you haven’t already, sign up for the Rhino Times email blast which will let you know the key stories in a nutshell and keep you up to date on breaking local news. Just fill out the information on the annoying pop-up that displays each time you go to RhinoTimes.com.
Also, remember; if you’re a local leader, use next week wisely.
As we said right before our 2024 Christmas break: “If you are a government official who works for the cities of Greensboro or High Point, or for Guilford County or one of the small towns in the county, and you want to do something corrupt, now is the time to do it since we will be Christmas shopping rather than trying to catch you with your hand in the taxpayer cookie jar.”
Only now we will be enjoying the summer sunshine rather than shopping – but the principle remains the same.
It will be August 2025 when we see you again (August already – time flies!), so, we will see you next month.
Wishing you and all others a fun and restful vacation. Be safe.

Merry Christmas! Er, in five months.
Have a good one, Scott.
Scott,
“Where will we go, and what will we do?”—left here with nothing but the 15-county-wide Fake News & Mis-Record to keep us informed (and to subtly promote corruption… not that it needs the push).
I do appreciate a little time off the grid, but really—you picked a spectacularly inconvenient time to abandon us, even temporarily.
We’re all clutching our pearls and holding our breath (some more dramatically than others) awaiting your triumphant return.
Johnny Intercept
We all need a break. Not from work so much, but for all the squabbling between the citizens.
Enjoy your vacation- you have earned a break! Politics, arrogance, stupidity, ignorance, crime, malfeasance, questionable behavior and comedy will still be here when you get back.
Enjoy the time one and all
Enjoy your time off Scott, you deserve it. Thanks for being here for us.
Make sure and update us on what’s going on in Summerfield!! Hope you had a nice vacation!
