If you’ve flown out of Piedmont Triad International Airport lately, you probably paid a little more for your ticket than you would have if you had flown out of Raleigh or Charlotte, but you probably also know the secret of PTI: It’s just easy.

It’s simple, rarely crowded, and though they raised the price of parking not that long ago, the cost is still reasonable.

Now the rest of the country is catching on to the airport’s charms: Newsweek just named PTI one of the Top 10 Small Airports in the US for 2025, based on votes from travelers nationwide.

The airport came in at number seven on the list—and airport officials are very pleased about that.

“This really speaks to the work our team does every day to make travel from PTI as pleasant as possible,” said Kevin Baker, the executive director of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. “We’re thrilled to see that effort recognized on a national scale.”

From quick security lines to up-close parking, the airport has built a reputation for convenience without the utter chaos of bigger airports and even some smaller airports around the country.

PTI serves as a gateway to the world for Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and beyond – with flights from Allegiant, American, Delta, and United.

And starting June 6, low-cost carrier Breeze Airways will join the mix, offering even more options.

This year’s additions include nonstop service to Orlando and Hartford –part of PTI’s efforts to grow its routes as the community it serves grows.

PTI is also a major local employer and economic driver, supporting over 30,000 jobs and generating roughly $9 billion every year for the region.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for PTI,” Baker said. “As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering an outstanding passenger experience, expanding service options, and supporting the economic vitality of our region.”
