The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce announced a change in leadership this week, with Geoff Foster officially stepping into the role of chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors during the organization’s Annual Celebration.

The event was held at Topgolf Greensboro and it brought together business and community leaders in an attempt to reflect on the past year of business life in Greensboro and look ahead to the future.

Foster, president and CEO of Core Technology Molding Corporation, succeeds Sheri Thomas, the chief administrative officer at Truliant Federal Credit Union, whose term as board chair has now concluded.

In a statement released by the Chamber on Wednesday, Feb. 11, President and CEO Brent Christensen praised Thomas’ tenure.

“Sheri has been a thoughtful and steady leader for the Chamber,” Christensen said in the public statement. “She guided us through important transitions, helped keep our organization strong, and was Chair during a period of major economic development success for our community.”

He added: “We are so very grateful for her service.”

Thomas’ term, according to the Chamber, was marked by an emphasis on organizational stability and long-term growth. The Chamber credited her with helping maintain focus during what it described as important transitions and a period of economic development activity in the community.

There’s been a huge amount of recruitment and economic development in Greensboro in recent years and a lot to oversee.  The chamber works closely with groups like the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance to keep things moving forward in the area economically.

Foster has been involved with the Chamber for years through his leadership at Core Technology Molding Corporation. The company operates in advanced manufacturing, and Foster has participated in Chamber initiatives tied to workforce development, economic growth and support for manufacturing industries.

In remarks included in the release, Foster said he intends to build on the Chamber’s current momentum.

“I am honored to serve as Board Chair and to build on the momentum we have as a Chamber and as a community,” Foster said. “Greensboro has an incredible opportunity in front of it, and I look forward to working with our board, staff, and members to help move our economy and business community forward.”

The Chamber described its Annual Celebration at the popular golf bar as an opportunity for business leaders to gather, reflect on the previous year and set priorities for the year ahead. The event traditionally serves as a moment to highlight accomplishments and introduce new leadership.

The transition marks the close of Thomas’ tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for the organization’s board leadership as it continues its work representing and promoting Greensboro’s business community.
