Guilford County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested a 56-year-old Greensboro man on multiple felony charges related to the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor.

Sheriff Danny Rogers announced on Friday, Feb. 27 that on Monday, Feb. 23, Child Crimes Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Investigative Unit began investigating a report of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor after a cyber tip was forwarded to local authorities. The tip was first received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which then notified the Sheriff’s Office.

As a result of that investigation, detectives arrested Richard Lynn Upright on Friday, February 27. Upright is charged with ten counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Upright was working as a teacher at Vandalia Christian School in Greensboro at the time the investigation began.

Upright is being held at the Guilford County Detention Center under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, March 2, at 2 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials said the investigation remains active and that no additional details will be released at this time.
