The Guilford County Black Caucus is holding two public forums this month to give voters a chance to hear directly from the candidates running in Greensboro’s municipal elections.

The first forum will take place Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the International Civil Rights Center & Museum in downtown Greensboro. That event will feature mayoral and at-large candidates.

The second forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, also from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the same location. That forum will focus on candidates running in Districts 1 through 5.

Both events are open to the public, and the caucus says it’s encouraging residents to attend and bring questions for those seeking office.

The Black Caucus, chaired by Chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners Skip Alston, is sponsoring the events.

Other officers include Vice Chair Deena Hayes-Greene, Treasurer Frankie Jones, and Secretary Carlvena Foster.

Members of the caucus include elected officials and community leaders such as Bettye Jenkins, Michael Holmes, Hugh Holston, Avery Crump, Larry Archie, Lora Cubbage, Lisa Johnson-Tonkins, Danny H. Rogers, Teresa Vincent, Cyril Jefferson, Jamilla Pinder and Amos Quick.

The forums come as early voting for Greensboro’s municipal elections draws closer, and they are likely to draw significant attention as candidates work to reach voters in the final weeks before Election Day.
