If you’re a Guilford County WIC participant and you’ve been wondering whether the nutrition program is still running right now, the answer is yes – it’s open, operating and offering the full slate of services.

County officials announced on Thursday, Nov. 13, that the North Carolina Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children at the Guilford County Division of Public Health hasn’t experienced any interruption. The program continues to provide assistance to pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children up to age 5 who face nutrition risk.

“WIC is open and running as usual,” said Erin Cashwell, the Nutrition Program director with the Guilford County Division of Public Health. “We know there has been some confusion between WIC and SNAP, but they are separate programs. If you have any questions or need help, please reach out to our WIC office—we are here for you.”

The county emphasized that participants should keep using their food benefits and continue attending in-person or virtual appointments. Everything from nutrition education to breastfeeding support to community referrals is proceeding normally at both WIC clinic locations.

Those clinics operate Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1100 East Wendover Avenue in Greensboro and 501 East Green Drive in High Point.

Anyone wanting more information or hoping to schedule an appointment can visit the Guilford County Division of Public Health online or call the Greensboro WIC office at 336-641-3214 or the High Point office at 336-641-7571.

The county notes that the WIC program remains an equal opportunity provider
