City of Greensboro offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observance of Thanksgiving – and a wide range of city services will operate on an adjusted schedule for the holiday.
There will be no garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste or appliance collections on Thanksgiving Day. Instead, Thursday’s collections will take place one day early on Wednesday, November 26. Friday collections remain unchanged.
The White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station will be closed on November 27 and will resume normal hours the following day.
All Greensboro Public Library locations and the Greensboro Cultural Center are closed November 27 – 28.
The Cultural Center will also close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26. Regular hours for both the libraries and the Cultural Center resume on Saturday, November 29.
The Greensboro History Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and returns to its regular schedule on Friday, November 28.
The J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center will be closed to all in-person services on November 27 and 28, with regular hours returning on Monday, December 1.
Residents can still pay water bills online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/PayWaterBill. For water and sewer emergencies – including main breaks, sewer stoppages or changes in the taste, odor or color of drinking water – the Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch line is 336-373-2033.
On the parks and recreation side, the Greensboro Sportsplex, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion at Barber Park, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation, Greensboro Youth Council, Xperience @ Caldcleugh and Parks and Recreation administrative offices are closed November 27 and 28.
All recreation centers, along with the Smith Active Adult Center and Trotter Active Adult Center, are closed November 27–30.
Lake Townsend, Lake Brandt and Lake Higgins are closed on Thanksgiving Day and will reopen on November 28. City cemeteries remain open, though no services are allowed on Thanksgiving Day. Gillespie Golf Course, public gardens and Barber, Country, Hester and Keeley parks are closed on Thanksgiving Day and resume normal hours the next day. City trails remain open throughout the holiday.
The Greensboro Transit Agency and Access GSO will operate on a weekend schedule November 27–28, running from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
