The Guilford County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday, Aug. 10 that, on July 21, 2026, the Guilford County Narcotics Task Force finished up a drug ring investigation that culminated in the execution of a search warrant at 8091 Chilcutt Drive in Browns Summit.
Where they found a very large sum of cash and some other interesting items.
The search warrant resulted in the seizure of :
- Four firearms
- Approximately 31,000 grams of marijuana (about 67 pounds)
- $228,117 in US currency.
Gavin Blake Thomas, 22, and Tanner James Crowder, 23, were both arrested in connection with the items. They were both charged with two counts of Felony Trafficking Marijuana and one count of Felony Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for a Controlled Substance.
Thomas received a $25,000 secured bond, while Crowder got a $50,000 secured bond.
Both men have since been released from custody.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Guilford County Narcotics Task Force is a collaborative effort between the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, Greensboro Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
