The City of Greensboro’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience has a couple of things going on at the start of 2025 in an attempt to keep residents cognizant of being green and eco-friendly.

For one thing, the office is seeking artists for its “Trash Bash Competition,” which will be held on Saturday, March 1.

In partnership with the non-profit organization Reconsidered Goods, the Trash Bash will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on that Saturday at the Grove Creative Coworking Space at Revolution Mill, 1200 Textile Dr. in Greensboro.

City officials describe the event as a “found-art” competition that‘s open to anyone age 14 and up. Competitors may register as an individual or as a team of three to five people. Individuals will be placed into teams on the day of the event. The number of participants is very limited, so register early if you want to take part.  You can get more information at https://greensboronc.jotform.com/243614991958068.

The event is being held to help promote creative reuse of discarded materials.  The artists will compete by building free-standing sculptures with items provided by Reconsidered Goods, which is a creative reuse center that diverts donated materials from landfills.

The winning team will receive a “one-of-a-kind” Reconsidered Goods Reuse Trophy.

Visitors are invited to come out and watch the competition.

Also, the Office of Sustainability and Resilience, in partnership with the  Community Sustainability Council, is now accepting nominations for its third annual Live Green Awards Program.
