Writers and many avid readers often have more books than they have bookshelf space for.
However, if you’re someone who needs more books, there’s a great opportunity in Guilford County to buy more at very affordable prices.
The group Friends of High Point Public Library is holding its fall book sale on the last weekend of October this year. For those without a calendar handy that is this upcoming weekend.
All proceeds from the sale will go to support library programs and services in High Point.
On Friday, Oct. 29, there will be a “friends” only pre-sale from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
You have to be a member to buy books at that pre-sale, however, memberships can be purchased at the door, and existing memberships can be renewed there. (Individual memberships start at $10.)
On Saturday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m. the sale will be open to the general public but, at 3 p.m. the event will once again turn into a “friends” only happening.
From 3 to 4:30 p.m., “friends” (members) will be able to participate in the popular “bag sale” during which customers can fill a bag with books for only $4. Bags will be provided to the friends.
According to the press release “Adult books” will be sold for $1 each. Presumably, that means “books often read by adults” rather than the kind of books found at adult bookstores.
All DVDs and audiobooks will be $1.
Children’s items, records and CDs are two for $1.
Specialty items, such as book sets or DVD sets, are individually priced.
If you’d like more information about the book sale – or about becoming a friend/member of the High Point Public Library support group, you can contact Jo Williamson at 336-883-3521.
High Point runs an efficient, friendly library. Their book sales are tops.

Where?! The library or the jail?
Our library should be a repository for information. So, they should keep at least one copy of any book that they have.
Local libraries are censoring what we can read; and, books of real monetary value “get gone”.
This is a fact. Anyone want proof?
