At the Tuesday, May 18 board meeting of the Piedmont Triad Partnership (PTP), it was announced that Michael S. Fox, an attorney with Tuggle Duggins, will be leading the PTP team.

Fox, who’s currently the chair of the NC Board of Transportation,  will replace longtime PTP President and CEO Stan Kelly.

Fox specializes in business and real estate law.  He has handled quite a few government affairs and zoning and land use cases during his three decades in the legal arena.

Fox will continue in his private law practice after he assumes the role of PTP president on September 1.

In addition to his law career, Fox has served for nearly a decade on the state’s Board of Transportation and has served as the chairman of that Board for the last four years.

Fox is also a member of the Board of Directors for the NC Railroad Company and the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation.

Kelly, the current PTP president and CEO, will continue as CEO during a year-long transition after which Fox will add “CEO” to his title.

As President of the Partnership, Fox will lead the organization’s “Carolina Core” effort. That’s a move to brand a 120-mile stretch of central North Carolina from west of Winston-Salem to Fayetteville under that label. The PTP is attempting to promote the area’s virtues and assets to make the region a globally competitive market.  In that 120-mile stretch, there are more than 30 colleges and universities and four megasites ready for business development.

Fox said that he was “honored and humbled” to be chosen to follow Kelly in this role.  He added that the Partnership had “really hit its stride under Stan’s leadership.”

He also said the next 10 years is full of opportunity he’s excited to be a part of the Carolina Core team.
