It’s not often the mayor of Greensboro is featured in a White House press release.
But Wednesday, July 21, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan figured prominently in the White House press release headlined, “North Carolina Mayors – Republican and Democrat – Call on Congress to Pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework.”
The press release states, “The NC Metropolitan Mayors Coalition, a bipartisan group of mayors from North Carolina’s larger cities, today called on the US Congress to push forward on a bipartisan effort to make a much-needed investment in our nation’s infrastructure.”
Then the press release quotes Vaughan, who is chair of the Metro Mayors Coalition:
“Last month a bipartisan group of US Senators charted a path forward on a critical investment in our nation’s future. This bipartisan group of 21 Senators, which notably included both Senator Richard Burr and Senator Thom Tillis, came together to sketch out a Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework that promises a once in a generation investment in our communities. President Biden endorsed this framework and Congress now has the opportunity to move forward with the proposal as debate begins in earnest on legislation to make it a reality. This bipartisan effort could have huge pay off by making our nation more competitive, helping fight climate change and beginning to address the backlog of highway, transit, water projects and other infrastructure that touch people in every community in our state.
“As mayors, we work every day to improve the quality of life in North Carolina, and this federal investment in our future is exactly the kind of help we need as we all push for better roads, transit, clean water and a healthy environment. We call on Congress and President Biden to stay the course, do the hard work to build consensus and make this framework a reality. That is what our cities need, what our citizens and businesses want and how we are supposed to get things done – together.”
Mandate Mayor shills for reckless spending (and the taxes that will follow) to address infrastructure like water and transit. But here in Greensboro our Mayor spends money on things no one needs like 100 million dollar performance arts centers and civil suits from hogtied homicides and their cover ups. Also our Mayor is not afraid to hand out money to any nonprofit run by her cabal. Do we need more spending and taxes if we are not being responsible with our current and past expenditures.
Infrastructure like water and transit is reckless? I was firmly against the massive waste that was added to the covid rescue bill, but we need infrastructure investment. Both parties has pushed for this while they hold the White House but act the fool when they fear the other party will get a ‘win’.
Stop putting Party before people.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill is essential for the entire country. Every two years, the American Society of Civil Engineers gives grades to the various parts of our infrastructure for roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems, transportation systems, dams etc. The overall grade this year was a “D”. I have no problem with my federal tax dollars being spent to upgrade our aging infrastructure. Better control over spending at the local government level would decrease our property taxes and therefore, help ease the pain of our federal taxes which are used for infrastructure improvements.
Alan you are absolutely correct. Our infrastructure needs major attention. But the rest of the items , which by the way , cost more than the infrastructure plan, should not be in the plan. The congress wants to vote on it and the dems are saying the GOP are stopping any forward work on it because they will not vote. Oh by the way ,,, the frigging bill hasn’t even been written, which the main stream media seems to forget to mention.
