Guilford County Sheriff’s Department Communications Specialist Bria Evans was arrested by Greensboro police officers in the very early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 2 and charged with driving while impaired.
Evans is the point of contact of the Sheriff’s Department for media inquiries and is the department official who sends out press releases and responds to questions from the media.
Josie Cambareri, the public information manager for the Greensboro Police Department, when asked about the incident, stated in an email that at this time the only information she could provide was the following: “GPD was dispatched to the area of Smith St. and N. Eugene St. in reference to a possible impaired driver on 12/2 at 0235 hours. Officers arrested Bria Evans for DWI.”
Evans has continued doing her work with the Sheriff’s Department after the arrest. On Saturday, Dec. 3, Evans was waving from a Sheriff’s Department vehicle at the holiday parade (pictured above) and on Sunday, Dec. 4 she sent out a press release for the department about a shooting incident
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Evans told the Rhino Times that she was unable to say anything regarding the incident at the present time.
“I can’t talk about that,” she said, adding that there was an ongoing investigation and therefore she could not comment.
The timing of the DWI arrest – Friday, Dec. 2 – was particularly unfortunate because it was on the same day that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department held a 5:30 p.m. tree lighting vigil at the department’s headquarters to honor the lives of those who died in traffic accidents in Guilford County in the previous year. That’s an annual service started by former Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes about 10 years ago in response to requests from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
At the ceremony, the names of those who died in traffic accidents are read out loud and there is a bulb on the Christmas tree for each of those who died. Since the tree lighting ceremony is a high-profile department event each year, Evans had sent out a press release for it and spent time on Thursday, Dec. 1 answering media inquiries regarding the ceremony.

Sadly the majority of the tax paying population of Guilford County voted to return Sheriff Danny to office.
Apparently he learned enough about politics in 4 years to pad the payroll with friends and family while parading around like a peacock.

Actually, he made it a point to go around to the universities within Greensboro to campaign early on. I noticed he had very few signs in the county proper until the end.
The answer should be that unless you have lived locally for one year you should not be allowed to vote in local elections and/or on local issues. I’m willing to bet if the numbers were studied you would find he won by playing those folks.
And I already know what kind of accusations are going to be directed at me, so just to let you know I used to tell my newly assigned soldiers I’m the least prejudice person you’ll ever meet…I hate everybody equally regardless of race, sex, or sexual orientation until you prove yourself otherwise.
She should lose her job but we all know it’s not going to happen to her it’s a shame that as hard as the police department works to prevent crimes she had no thoughts for herself or her public

“Spokespeople” for law enforcement all over America never cease in their sanctimonious lectures about drunk driving.
It’s like a similar phenomenon brought to light by the NMA (National Motorists’ Association – I’m a member). Apparently all the outraged mothers who crusade so self-righteously to cut speed limits in their neighborhoods are invariably the people who receive the majority of tickets when policing is beefed up!

This violation does not matter to Rogers’ voters. There would be an outcry by his devotees if she were to be fired.

Those that voted for Rogers for sheriff knew his record (maybe a few did not but most did) did not care, and voted for him anyway! They do not care now that his so called girlfriend’s daughter who is his spokesperson was charged with a DWI. The lawbreakers are in charge and have no fear of being reprimanded…after all, he was just reelected a few months ago!
Well the Demoncratic voted and they got what they wanted! Nothing will be done and Rogers’s girlfriend‘s daughter will continue to be employed and paid a high salary. What is this crap about the continuing investigation ? She was caught driving while impaired, someone stated that she blew .14 on the DWI test. Nothing left now but finding a lawyer that will try and get community service instead of jail time. Even a disciplinary investigation shouldn’t take more than a couple of days. I have done this type of internal investigation and it should have been completed this week.

I think HR should begin an investigation in Dannys hiring practices like most good folks believe he is in violation of county policy and possibly state laws. Heck they need to check his girlfriend Sgt Gilchrist over 50B who smokes big Ole cigars with Danny… I don’t she check the I use tobacco product box… that’s term forms for termination. HR should check that since it’s costing tax payers money and she lied on official forms.
A few years ago two deputy sheriffs were terminated when they signed a form stating that they didn’t use tobacco products. After signing the forms a person with Guilford County HR saw them using tobacco products. Sheriff Barnes terminated both of them for lying.
Last I know of Sgt Gilchrist is a married woman. So the integrity starts there with both. That little info commercial about what he is looking for on the hiring process. He needs to practice what he is preaching.
People make mistakes plain and simple. Let the system do its thing. Some doctors, lawyers, judges, police, city councilmen (Z. Matheny), county commissioners(Roger Moore) get popped. Poor judgment? Yes.
You’re right Jack, but this was not a mistake. Look up the word. This was done intentionally and without thought or concern for others. All the others you named are just as guilty and deserve EQUAL punishment, something that will not occur unfortunately. This one will most likely be swept under the rug eventually, again unfortunately and we all know why.

No. I have never had a DWI. I never drove after or while drinking because I was employed by a police dept. and I would have been fired for that very serious “infraction” off or on the clock. A .14 would have made my superiors sorry they could not fire me twice. Does that cover your questions?
Just to answer your question Chris…no to both questions. But there is something called “appearance” and “example” which is why.
Law Enforcement has a “higher” standard than the average citizen working a job. They must pass higher standards and their is a “Code of Ethics”. They enforce the Law, and when they violate the Law they have to face the consequences. When they swear on the Bible they take an Oath to Protect and Serve the Community, not to violate the law. By the way, a DWI is not an Infraction it is a Misdemeanor. Get your facts right and clean up your language. You have the right to express your feelings, and so does everyone else that commented.
I wonder if Chris Bradsher is black. A lot of black people close ranks when one of their own has been found publicly to have engaged in malfeasance. They are not interested in right or wrong. Racial solidarity trumps morality.

I doubt he did since he appears to “ABOVE THE LAW” . In the past individuals with the Sheriff’s Office were terminated for lying on the Use of Tobacco form.

To be fair, Ms. Evans has been arrested, but not convicted. “Not guilty” happens not often, but it can be. We could all be caught with our pants down. If found guilty, she should be dismissed for cause. Let’s see what happens.
