The Guilford County Republican Party has named Sebastian King as its executive director.  King, who served as the campaign director for state Rep. Jon Hardister and now works as his legislative assistant and policy advisor, was named to the position on Saturday, March 9 at the Guilford County Republican Party Convention held on the Jamestown Campus of Guilford Technical Community College.

TSA To Put On Knife Show At GSO Airport

But even if you passed that test, there are apparently a lot of other flyers who use Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA) who don’t know what they can and can’t take onto planes.  According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at PTIA, last year, passengers at the airport brought 14 guns to the checkpoints and most of those were loaded.

County Approves Contract Despite Alston’s Fiery Objections

At the Monday, Feb. 25 Guilford County Board of Commissioners retreat, the board voted to approve a controversial construction contract for a $14-million Emergency Services vehicle maintenance facility, but only after a heated exchange in which Democratic Commissioner Skip Alston raked county staff over the coals and then got into it with the Republican commissioners.

County Commissioners Approve Borrowing $40 Million

By 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, the first day of the two-day retreat, the board unanimously approved a motion to use a financing method known as “two-thirds bonds” to raise $40 million dollars for a host of coming county projects including a new mental health facility, a $10-million investment to enhance school system security, a new animal shelter and a new administrative headquarters for the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department.
