And while I enjoy your paper and agree with you probably 95 percent of the time, I have to strongly disagree with your take on the Jordan Lake Rules. As a zoning commissioner for one of the triad cities, I can tell you that our watershed protections are an absolute joke. They’re token protections. They’re not protecting our water. And once we despoil that water, once we ruin our state’s potable water supply, which we’re doing by the way, we can forget about any new businesses or development coming in. The statistics you gave in 2009 was one year after President Obama took office. In 2008, after Bush left the White House, we were near a recession. Obama had been in office only one year. Question for the school board and school principals, teachers. Why are our children spending time when they should be learning ABCs and math raising money for United Way and other organizations? This should not be allowed in the school system. If parents have children that need to be taught this as children, then do it in the churches on the weekends but not take tax money when children are sent to school for learning, not to raise money for outside projects. This should be discussed by the school board, and principals, and the teachers at Pearce Elementary. I saw where a school raised $15,000 for United Way. What caught my eye was the cartoon, and it shows somebody taking Donald Trump and Scott Pruitt to shorten a leash, and they already got a leash on the dog about two-foot long now. And it says, EPA watchdog. In other words, he wants to let it out. He wants to shorten it. However, in reading that I see where a lady from Rocky Mount wrote in and she don’t understand why they don’t let the transgender come in the restroom, that women can look after their self. I’d like to meet with her and go to Crabtree Valley Mall and stand there and as they go by, she can tell me who’s transgender and who’s not. And who’s a sex offender and who’s not. And if she’s got any grandchildren, would she let them go in the bathroom with just whoever come along and said, I’m transgender. Do you think Jennifer Lopez comes to Greensboro Coliseum, and I walk up and say I’m a transgender, they’ll let me go in the bathroom with her? I don’t believe so.

Wow. I just got a comment. I got my revalued home property assessment. $20,000 more than last additional $20,000 from past revaluation. There is no way I could come close to selling my house for this new amount. I appealed last increase but was rejected. I found the process to be unfair. But I’ve learned valuable insights to better address unfair taxation. Now, add to that the increase yearly fee for owning each car in Greensboro. So now $30 up from $10. Where is all this money going? I went to two job fairs this week. Really a sad indication of where our local economy has headed. Yeah, stalemate in Washington is not a new thing. But the Republican Party was handed the mid-term elections, and they did nothing with it. Regarding the articles on the wind farms and some comments about number of birds that will be killed by the slow-moving turbine blades. Both the US Fish and Wildlife Department and the Audubon Society estimate roughly the same number: 1 million birds a day are killed in the US from flying into plate glass windows and doors on our homes and businesses. In 100 years, there will not be that many birds killed by the slow-moving wind turbine blades.
