When High Point announced that it was building a baseball stadium to promote downtown development in the fall of 2017, Carroll Companies owner and president Roy Carroll said that he would work with the master developer in an effort to build about a 100-room hotel near the stadium as part of the project.

Today Carroll said that was not likely to happen.

Carroll released the following statement: “The Carroll Companies will not be moving forward with the development of the downtown High Point hotel. After more than a year, we were still missing critical information concerning hotel location, schedule and price of the site. It is typical for out-of-town developers to bring in developers they have worked with previously on the various components of a mixed-use project.

“The Carroll Companies continues to celebrate growth in the Triad and wishes great success to the downtown High Point project. Our team is ready to assist in the High Point redevelopment project in any way needed whether it be as an uncompensated consultant or as part of the development team.”
